Questions about windows, fitting and service

Common questions about windows, doors and gates — lead times, quotes, layered installation, warranty and servicing.

How long does a window order take?

Standard uPVC joinery is typically produced in 4–6 weeks from order confirmation; aluminium windows and sliding systems take 6–10 weeks. Installation is scheduled separately. Lead times get longer in season, from spring to autumn, so on a building project it pays to order early.

Do you measure before quoting?

We prepare an initial quote from the joinery schedule in your drawings or from dimensions you provide. Before production, however, we measure on site — and that measurement is the binding one. The gap between design dimensions and the actual opening is the most common cause of installation problems.

Which windows meet Polish building regulations?

Since 2021 vertical windows must reach Uw ≤ 0.9 W/(m²K), roof windows 1.1 and external doors Ud ≤ 1.3. The figures apply to the complete unit including the frame, not to the glazing alone. We state them for each item in the quote.

Is installation included in the price of the windows?

No — we separate the cost of the joinery from the cost of installation. That makes it clear what you are paying for and lets you compare quotes on the same basis. Layered installation, recommended in energy-efficient buildings, is also priced separately.

How does layered installation differ from standard?

Standard installation relies on polyurethane foam alone. Layered installation adds a vapour-tight tape on the inside and a vapour-permeable one on the outside. The foam then handles insulation only, while the tapes protect the joint from indoor moisture and from rain. Without those layers, water vapour condenses inside the wall.

Can I order windows without installation?

Yes, we sell joinery on its own. Please note, however, that when another team carries out the installation, responsibility for the consequences of incorrect fitting rests with that installer, not with the manufacturer or with us.

What warranty do I get on the windows and the installation?

The manufacturer’s warranty depends on the system and usually runs from 5 to 10 years on the profile and 2 to 5 years on the hardware. Our installation warranty is granted separately and set out in the contract. Keeping it requires periodic maintenance — hardware adjustment and a seal inspection.

Do roller shutters have to be ordered together with the windows?

If they are to be built in, yes — the box needs space in the wall and must be allowed for before the lintels go up. Surface-mounted shutters can be added later to a finished facade, but they remain visible from outside. An insect screen integrated into the shutter box cannot be added afterwards.

What is the difference between a roller shutter and a facade blind?

A roller shutter has a curtain that rolls into a box and gives full blackout when closed. A facade blind has rotating slats, so it controls how much light comes in without cutting off the view. Shutters suit bedrooms; blinds suit living rooms and large south-facing glazing.

Do you fit garage doors in existing garages?

Yes, but it requires checking the dimensions on site. The critical figures are lintel height, reveal width and garage depth. Low lintels leave only certain track arrangements available, and an electric operator needs additional room for the rail.

What area do you cover?

We work in Świątniki Górne and the area around Kraków. The installation range is agreed individually at the quoting stage — for larger contracts we cover a wider area.

Do you help with subsidy applications?

We prepare a quote listing the technical parameters of every item together with documentation confirming the product properties — which is what the programme operator asks for at settlement. We do not file the application on the client’s behalf, and programme terms should always be checked in their current version.

What should I do if a window starts letting a draught through?

Usually it is enough to adjust the compression using the cam rollers around the sash and to maintain the seals. If the sash rubs against the frame or drops when opened, the geometry has shifted and the window needs a service visit. Misting inside the glazing unit means a failed seal and the pane has to be replaced.

Can the windows in my drawings be changed to a different system?

Usually yes, provided the parameters required in the design are kept — above all insulation and lintel capacity where the glazing is large. It is worth agreeing the change with the designer, particularly for sliding systems, where sash weight can matter structurally.

How do I prepare for installation?

Rooms should have at least a metre of clear access to the windows, with furniture and equipment nearby protected. When replacing joinery in an occupied house, one window typically takes 2–4 hours. Agree in advance how the old joinery will be taken away.
